Trucks have been stranded in Mendi since Monday after landowners dug up large portions of the road to force the government to undertake long-overdue repairs, according to the National.

An anonymous informant told the paper local people who operated public motor vehicles were tired of having to constantly repair vehicles damaged due to poor road conditions.

Up to 10 trucks are now stranded at Mendi with police now attempting to establish a presence on the ground to secure the trucks cargo.
