Oil Search is PNG’s largest oil producer and has been studying the potential for the highly publicised PNG Gas Pipeline, along with more recent initiatives for an LNG project and a possible petrochemical business.

The time appears to have come for the company to shift from plans to action, by either moving on potential projects or cutting them loose.

Speaking on the sidelines of the PNG Mining and Petroleum and Investment conference in Sydney last week, managing director Peter Botten examines the likelihood of the pipeline project going ahead and discusses Oil Search’s role in developing PNG's petroleum industry.
