The province was immersed in allegations of corruption and misuse of public funds last year, which prompted the national emergency.

But the PNG Supreme Court declared the emergency invalid and subsequently reinstated Governor Hami Yawari and his government early this month.

Yawari was reported as saying he would ensure law and order was maintained to allow oil and gas projects to prosper.
