Supermajors paid no 2016 tax: ATO

EXXONMOBIL, Shell and Chevron Corporation paid no tax in the 2016 financial year a new report from the Australian Taxation Office yesterday said, which found that 36% of major corporations in Australia had paid no tax during the period.

ATO deputy commissioner Jeremy Hirschhorn said that the fall was due to a decline in prices and that "the significant reduction in tax payable was overwhelmingly driven by the energy and resources segment". ...
