THE Australian Energy Market Commission released a report on Friday warning public confidence in energy retailers was miserable has hit home with Commonwealth energy minister Josh Frydenberg lashing out at retailers.

He called the report that found just 39% of customers have confidence in retailers a "wakeup call". 
 
Just recently two of the big three - AGL Energy and Origin Energy - announced small cuts to power and gas bills, in some states, but this came after last year's hikes of 15%. 
 
On Friday EnergyAustralia also announced some small cuts to tariffs. 
 
Last week's report found that "consumers say they are less satisfied with the value for money in the electricity and gas sectors than they are with banking, mobile phones, internet, water and insurance services".
