Victoria State Labor commits to 50% renewables 

THE VICTORIAN Labor government has committed to a new renewable energy target of 50% by 2030 if it wins the upcoming state election in two weeks’ time.

The Daniel Andrews-led government had formally committed to a renewable energy target of 40% by 2030, but has now raised the bar another 10%, which political observers have interpreted to be a battle against the Greens for four progressive inner-city seats, including Prahran which has a median house price of A$4 million. 
 
The new target is in line with Federal Labor's target, announced a week ago.
