Government votes down climate emergency motion

THE federal government has voted against debating the motion to declare a climate emergency brought by Labor with backing from the Greens two days ago, with energy minister Angus Taylor calling it an “empty gesture”.

Victorian Greens MP Adam Bandt brought on a vote in the lower house two days ago, supported by Labor's climate spokesman Mark Butler.
