IN the past two years tiny Guyana, a former British colony attached to the top of South America and with a population of around 800,000, has become a global oil hotspot after multiple finds by ExxonMobil that now total over 6 billion barrels of recoverable oil, and other finds by CNOOC, Hess, and Tullow Oil.
