Labor adopts 43% emissions reduction target by 2030

THE federal Labor Party is set to unveil its climate policy this morning, leading with an interim emissions reduction target of 43% below 2005 levels by 2030 adding that they will ensure energy intensive export industries will remain competitive.

The target is lower than many Labor and Liberal state emissions reduction targets, but higher than the Coalition's 26-28% target; however it projects emissions will fall by 30-35% by the end of the decade....
