The fire was successfully extinguished and no personnel were injured as a result of the incident, according to Origin.

“The cause of the fire is unknown, however, a full investigation has been initiated,” the company said.

Origin said it would comply with all regulatory requirements to investigate and remediate the incident.

“The damage is localised and until an integrity assessment is complete, it is not known how long it will take to investigate, repair and recommission the plant. It is anticipated the plant will be operational before the end of January.”

The Beharra Springs Gas Plant produces about 10 terajoules of gas per day. The facility is a

joint venture between Origin Energy (67%) and Arc Energy (33%).
