Oil retreats ahead of OPEC meeting

THE oil price eased last night ending its one-day rally as an upcoming OPEC meeting and a holiday weekend in the United States limited trade.

Last night, New York's Western Texas Intermediate closed marginally lower to $US54.05 a barrel.
