New explorer takes a Bight

A NEW Canada-backed explorer has begun a hunt for multi-billion barrel oil fields in the Great Australian Bight, following BP's plunge into the region earlier this year.

Bight Petroleum was revealed earlier this month as the successful bidder for two permits (EPP 41 and 42) in the Ceduna Sub-basin of the Bight Basin.

The company committed to work programs of $63.
