Indian venture buckles to govt pressure

IN WHAT is seen by industry observers as an effort to stay in the good books of the Indian government, a Reliance Industries-led consortium has agreed to pump $US4 billion into the Krishna-Godavari Basin.

The consortium, which includes British oil major BP and Canada's Niko Resources, will spend the money developing the satellite fields of the D-6 block, where gas resources have been falling steeply.
