This time it is Goldfields Gas Transmission which has issued writs against the state Government and the regulator, Dr Ken Michael.

GGT general manager Mr David King said Dr Michael had ignored provisions of a 1994 State Agreement, which he said was designed to protect GGT from any "material adverse effect" triggered by regulation.

"By disregarding the State Agreement, the regulator threatens not only the future of the goldfields gas pipeline, but also the robustness and integrity of the State Agreement process," he said.

The Goldfields gas pipeline is West Australia's second biggest behind the Dampier to Bunbury pipeline. The owners include Duke Energy, CMS Energy and the Australian Pipeline Trust.

Earlier this month the court reserved its decision after hearing a case brought by Epic Energy challenging Dr Michael's jurisdiction over the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. That decision is expected early in the new year.
