Amity gas sale to Levis Strauss a good fit

Perth-based Amity Oil Limited has succeeded in delivering commercial gas from its Gocerler field in Turkey to a second customer, this time jean giant Levis Strauss.

The American clothing giant has just completed constructing a new jeans factory, which is located on the Gocerler Project Joint Venture trunk pipeline just 5km from the Gocerler gas field.

It is the company's largest factory outside of the United States and will initially take around one million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd), Amity Oil said.

Amity told the market that gas sales to Gocerler's first two customers is presently at about 5 mmcfd while delivery to a third customer, an independent electric power generator, is waiting on approval of the entry manifold and is expected shortly.

Amity also reported that preparations for the exploration well, Cayirdere-1 has been completed and the well operator, Turkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO) said that the likely spud date for the well was mid to late July.

The Cayirdere-1 well will test a shallow structure with a strong anomaly similar in nature to that found over the Gocerler Gas Field, which is said to hold around 30 billion cubic feet of gas.

In personnel news, Amity Oil Limited said company secretary and chief financial officer, Mr Eric Hughes has tendered his resignation and will leave the company in July.
