Reliance to supply LNG for Kawas and Gandhar power plants

Following India’s National Thermal Power Corp’s (NTPC) decision to relax its terms for the supply tender for its Kawas and Gandhar power plants, India’s Reliance Industries has come out with the lowest bid to supply the 3 million tonnes of LNG per annum which is needed.

According to reports published in the Indian media, Reliance quoted US$2.97 per MMBTU. This figure is lower than the prices quoted by foreign bidders Royal Dutch/Shell, Yemen LNG and Petronas.

Once the deal is finalised, Reliance will transport the LNG from fields in the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh to Gujarat, where the plants are sited.
