Indonesia looks to double Fujian LNG sales

Indonesia's energy minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro believes that, despite already being pencilled in to buy 2.6 million tonnes of LNG per annum, China's Fujian province can be persuaded to buy up to 5 million tonnes of LNG per annum.

Indonesia looks to double Fujian LNG sales

The 2.6 million that Fujian has already contracted for was purchased from BP Plc's West Papua facility and shipment begins in 2007. Yusgiantoro announced that his government would raise the matter of increasing the purchase when a delegation of 30 businessmen from Fujian visits the country next month.

An increasing global supply of LNG has put buyers in the drivers seat but Indonesia believes their proximity to China's south will make it the preferred vendor.
