Noble: Mari-B delivers gas to Israel

Noble Energy Inc has begun commercial delivery of natural gas from its Mari-B gas offshore field to Israeli utility Israel Electric Corp Ltd (IEC).

The field, in the Mediterranean Sea, is supplying natural gas to IEC’s electric power plants throughout Israel, including the Ashdod plant which was the first to receive the gas supply on 17 February.

According to Noble chairman, president and CEO, Charles D. Davidson, “The startup of natural gas sales from the Mari-B field is an important and exciting event for Israel and for Noble Energy. [It means] Israel now has access to a safe, clean and inexpensive energy source.”

“For Noble Energy, the commencement of natural gas sales marks the completion of a major international project that will create a stable, core producing area for years to come,” said Noble.

Noble is the operator of the Mari-B field with a working interest of around 47.059%. Other partners in the project are Avner Oil Exploration Ltd Partnership (23%), Delek Drilling Ltd Partnership (25.5%) and Delek Investments and Properties Ltd. (4.441%).
