Berwyndale CSM flows still growing: QGC

QUEENSLAND Gas Company claims to now be the biggest independent seller of coal seam methane gas in its home state, with that assertion coming as its Berwyndale South gas field produces its best results to date.

Berwyndale CSM flows still growing: QGC

Twelve of the original 24 production wells at the field recorded their best weekly average flows last week, the company said. Berwyndale South-60 last week flowed an average of 3.54 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd), while the field's oldest well Berwyndale South-9, drilled in May 2004, achieved 2.97MMcfd from only the lower Juandah seams.

QGC said it was now selling an equivalent of 9.65 petajoules per year, about 75% higher than its original 5.4PJ target.

As a result, managing director Richard Cottee said, "QGC has today established itself as the largest independent seller of coal seam gas in the Queensland market."

QGC is operator and majority owner (90%) of Berwyndale South, together with partner Sentient Gas Australia (10%). The field is QGC's first commercial CSM operation and is located close to Chinchilla in southern Queensland.
