Ichthys delayed again

REPORTS suggest the $54 billion Inpex-led Ichthys LNG project is not going to make its latest deadline to start production, having  delayed again and newly installed Inpex CEO Takayuki Ueda giving no exact date for when it might start.

More Ichthys delays

There have been multiple delays this year alone with start-up dates suggested for March, then May and then June. 
 
These came after an original date of late 2016 for first production, and costs have since blow out by billions of dollars. 
 
An Inpex spokesperson told Energy News this morning safety was the project's  "number one value… the project is scheduled to commence production of gas from the wellhead upon conducting final safety verification". 
 
However, specific timing for a first LNG cargo would be determined "based on the sequence of production start-up activities going forward".
