ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR

This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Commonwealth Bank's specialist Oil &


Gas team.The Oil & Gas team's objective is to originate, develop, optimise and facilitate complex financial transactions for the Bank's chosen oil and gas clients where detailed project financing & technical or engineering considerations are a material element of the intellectual value add. The Oil & Gas team works in conjunction with other members of the Natural Resource Solutions Group and other teams within Institutional Banking to resolve debt and equity funding and risk management issues and to ensure cross-sell opportunities and referral.

This role requires the individual to

  • Act as Team leader on specific projects
  • Assist with strategic business plan implementation by establishing the Bank's reputation for delivering relevant financing solutions in the oil & gas sector.
  • Contribute to the origination of opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Employ analytical skills in risk assesment and deal structuring and assist in progressing deals through the credit chain
  • Innovatively and appropriately use the full range of the Bank's product suite to add value to clients
  • Negotiate mutually acceptable outcomes with clients and execute deals in a team environment.

Ideal candidates will have either a Project Financing or an Oil & Gas technical background.

Banking candidates are likely to have 5-7 years experience working in institutional or global banking teams within Advisory, Project Financing or Structured Finance speciality, or alternatively the natural resources relationship management team. Product knowledge will include project financing, reserve analysis, treasury, credit and other specialised corporate finance products. Tertiary qualifications in a business related field e.g. commerce, accounting, engineering or law

Whilst an appreciation of the oil and gas sector will be advantageous, bankers who have the relevant skill sets ideally with a natural resources focus and are interested in investing time and energy learning more about the oil and gas sector will be highly suitable for the role.

Oil & Gas candidates are likely to be working in the commercial team. Recent experience is likely to include analysis of commercial drivers and cash flows regarding potential company acquisitions, joint ventures or alternatively specific investment opportunities in green field exploration or brown field expansion. Relevant candidates are likely to have either a technical or accounting academic qualification.
