The Australian Petroleum Production &


Exploration Association Limited (APPEA) is the peak industry association representing the oil and gas exploration and production industry.The Association is looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic senior communications professional to join the APPEA team. The position will report to the Chief Executive and is located in the Association's Canberra office. The person will be responsible for APPEA's communication program including the preparation of reports and publicity material; working with APPEA's media liaison team; developing and implementing communications strategies and representing APPEA to a variety of external stakeholders.

The successful applicant for this position will need to have:

  • experience in a similar role;
  • high level written and oral communication skills;
  • strong understanding of media management;
  • ability to work constructively with colleagues and with minimal supervision;
  • high levels of self motivation, initiative and organisational skills;
  • well-organised and excellent time management skills;
  • strong established and relevant networks;
  • excellent presentational, representational and networking skills; and
  • ability to work effectively in a small team environment.

The successful applicant will have presence and will be able to liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, media and staff, at all levels. The applicant should also have a good knowledge of the Australian system of government, together with an understanding and/or interest in the Australian resources industry. The position entails some travel within Australia.
