HYDROGEN producer Linde Gas and Swedish steelmaker Ovakos have successfully trialled using hydrogen-based heat to manufacture steel, the first time it has been done.

Steel quality unaffected in sign that hydrogen economy will take off

 

Ovako conducted a full-scale trial in which steel was heated using hydrogen instead of LPG before rolling at mills in Hofors, showing hydrogen does not affect the steel's quality.
