Dead Jed is one of a series of short dramatic films and animations that feature compelling stories about people, avoidable accidents and their tragic aftermath.

In Dead Jed's case, it looks at the domino effect of letting negligent behaviours pass as acceptable.

In another, the animated short film Gail's Shoes, an injured man's wife tells of the ripple effect of an incident and its devastating impact on their marriage.

The films have been borne of a collaboration between e-learning provider Oilennium and Edinburgh theatre company Acting Up.

"As providers of e-learning courses for the oil and gas industry it's critical that our participants are fully prepared to embrace training in safe working practices," Oilennium managing director Kevin Keable said.

"If we can't get participants to connect emotionally, they will not change their behaviour."

Keable said the impact of the films was what the company was counting on.

"Not only are they more likely to change their behaviour, they remember these stories and often re-tell them at work to drive home the value of proper safety practice in the workplace," he said.
