"This was an orchestrated and abhorrent attack on a local family in the middle of the night," Tamboran said according to London's The Telegraph.

"We condemn this latest attack that follows a number of unlawful incidents at our Belcoo site and threats that have been made to security staff."

The newspaper reported that no one was injured in the attack at the home in Letterbreen - a "short distance" to the Belcoo borehole site.

Activists and politicians also condemned the attack.

Tamboran previously secured an injunction order on the Belcoo site after protestors sought unlawful access to the site following the company's announcement to drill a shale-targeting scientific borehole there two weeks ago.
