APPEA 2007 secures top speakers

THE Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association has secured two more top-line speakers for the 2007 APPEA Conference and Exhibition to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on April 15-18.

Productivity Commission commissioner Michael Woods and National Native Title Tribunal president Graeme Neate have been added to an already extensive line-up of speakers.

Previously confirmed speakers include:

• South Australian Premier Mike Rann;

• Federal Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources Ian Macfarlane;

• Western Australian development approvals coordinator Brendon Hammond;

• Greater Gorgon Area general manager and APPEA chairman Colin Beckett;

• Santos managing director John Ellice-Flint;

• APPEA chief executive Belinda Robinson;

• veteran consultant Peter Gaffney of Gaffney-Cline and Associates;

• WWF chief executive Greg Bourne;

• Australian Industry Greenhouse Network chief executive John Daley;

• University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering professor and Energy Tribune editor-in-chief Dr Michael Economides;

• Rockefeller University Program for the Human Environment director Jesse Ausubel; and

• Rare Consulting principal Mark McKenzie.

“A total of 17 leading national and international speakers will provide an outstanding series of presentations, round table discussions and insightful comment,” said APPEA conference director Julie Hood.

“This is in addition to more than 55 technical and commercial presentations from the leaders in the upstream exploration and service companies.”

The early-bird registration rate available until March 2 saves $100 off the standard registration fee. Registration includes the Welcome Function, which is based on the theme of “Southern Delights” and will offer South Australia’s finest foods and beverages.
