Duke pushing for quick sale

The US company has wasted no time in calling for expressions of interest for its $1.5 billion Australian asset portfolio by the end of this week. Additionally, the company has announced it has no wish to split its assets in order to seal a deal, with the company's sales flier "seeking expressions of interest from investors for the potential sale of Duke Australia in a single transaction."

However, the wish for a single quick transaction may put several potential bidders offside. Bidders such as GasNet and New Zealand's Meridian Energy will only be interested in sections of the company's portfolio while larger bidders such as AGL may be restricted from taking control of the whole portfolio by ACCC issues.

On the upside a speedy negotiation would see a quicker exit than Epic, forcing several bidders to choose between the two asset portfolio's.
