Schlumberger have opened a service centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, for their range of Reda electrical submersible pumps.

The facility (JSSC) will be owned and operated by PT. Reda Pump Indonesia and PT. Imeco Inter Sarana and is the second of its kind in Indonesia.

"Approximately 10% of the world's oil supply is produced with submersible pumps, and Indonesia is one of the world's largest users of electrical submersible pumps with more than 3,000 systems in operation," said Carlos Calad, president of Schlumberger Oilfield Services Indonesia.

The JSSC will support customers operating in Indonesia outside of Sumatra. The Pekanbaru Service Centre, opened in 1995, supports Caltex's operations in Sumatra.

Budiyanto Thomas, Central Business Manager for Maxus Southeast Asia, a Schlumberger business unit, anticipated that the new Jakarta facility "would significantly shorten total repair turnaround time and increase return on investment. We expect it will increase our equipment availability and decrease inventory level, improving productivity and efficiency.

Dr. Rachmat Sudibjo, director general of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Indonesia, adds, "The Jakarta Centre will also provide Indonesia with training resources and facilities. Such support is welcomed in that it strengthens relationships between customers, government and suppliers."
