Energy Minister Eric Ripper said Cabinet had ratified the appointment of Anne Nolan as co-ordinator of energy as the Government's energy reform plans moved ahead.

The Minister said Nolan, formerly assistant under treasurer (Economic), was playing a strategic role as chair of the electricity reform implementation steering committee.

"As co-ordinator of energy, Ms Nolan is also the Government's most senior adviser on a wide range of energy policy, planning and development issues," he said.

Nolan had been acting in the position since the retirement of the previous co-ordinator of energy in August last year.

"There are many complex energy issues afoot that are critical to the State's long-term economic development, and I am confident Ms Nolan will provide sound strategic advice to the government in facing those challenges."
