Mosaic has provided sponsorship prize money of $10,000 to enable the 120 year old club's 'second Saturday in September' to continue as a major social and sporting event in the south west Queensland region.
The donation is the second in the last month after Mosaic also helped to save a regional community access centre from closure. Thanks to an $8,000 grant the Surat Access Centre, which provides public access to computers, internet, training, and graphic design and printing services, has now been able to purchase its brick headquarters in Surat prior to the conclusion of their lease
"Mosaic supports the Surat Race Day because it attracts so many people from around the region - and the cities - to come together in a great community day," says Mosaic chief executive officer, Howard Brady.
"We will be producing oil and gas in this area for a long time to come and we want to support and be part of an integrated community. This race day is not just for the punters - it is a great get together for close and distant neighbours, kids, town and country people and visitors from further away."
Mosaic Oil has discovered gas reserves in the nearby Churchie Gas Fields - part of larger Surat Basin leases held by the company.
