CSM issues set to spark interest in Brisbane forum

CASE study presentations from coal seam methane leaders such as Santos, Australian Gas Light, Origin Energy, Queensland Gas Company and Arrow Energy are certain to draw interest from delegates attending the sixth annual Coal Seam Gas & Coal Mine Methane conference in Brisbane on November 23-24.

Smaller players such as Eastern Star Gas, Sunshine Gas and Molopo will also present at the conference, which will be held from November 21-22 at the Novotel Brisbane hotel.

Oil Search will discuss how the Papua New Guinea-Queensland Pipeline can co-exist with the CSM industry.

Industry professionals will discuss issues such as the growth of CSM and water management, while American consultancy firm MHA Petroleum Consultants’ presentation will be on Three Views of North American Coal Gas Pilots.

Two major drilling companies and two engineering leaders will then outline new technologies and their applications overseas and in Australia.

A pre-conference workshop, held on November 20, will address the technology and economics of value-adding operations in the process industries using CSM gas. Business development opportunities for CSM producers will also be identified.

After the conference, MHA Petroleum Consultants vice president Dr John Seidle will host a two-day workshop, Fundamentals of Coal Bed Methane, from November 23-24, for both technical and managerial staff. It is designed to help attendees understand CSM production, as well as how to assess exploration and development opportunities.
