Over the coming months, QGC – as operator of several joint ventures in the area – plans to drill at least 11 new wells, two new core wells, six reservoir monitoring wells, as well as working over and completing three previously drilled wells.

QGC expects results from the new drilling and testing program will accelerate the commercialisation of its interests on the Undulla Nose and increase proven and probable reserves to a least 1000 petajoules.

The program is also designed to evaluate the coal seam potential of QGC’s interests beyond the Undulla Nose and certify reserves at these prospects.

In partnership with Origin Energy and Sentinent Gas, the company will drill five new appraisal wells (Bellevue 3 to 7) in ATP 610P, which is about 15km north of the Berwyndale South gas field. The JV will also re-enter, clean out and complete an existing well, Bellevue-2, and drill two monitoring wells in a testing program designed to increase the gas reserves.

In a JV with the same partners, this time in ATP 648P, QGC will drill a new appraisal well (Kenya East-2), which is about 15km southeast of the Argyle gas field. It will also re-enter and convert and existing core well, Kenya East-1, into a CSM producer.

Meanwhile, in a separate JV with Sentinent Gas, QGC will drill five new appraisal wells (Berwyndale 3 to 7) in ATP 632P (PLA 211), about 8km north of the Berwyndale South gas field. The JV will also re-enter and core the lower Juandah Coal Measures and the Taroom Coal Measures in an existing well, Berwyndale-2R, in addition to drilling four monitoring wells.

In another sole-risk project in ATP 621P, QGC will drill a new core well, Ridgewood-2, in, located about 50km southeast of the Argyle gas field. Success at Ridgewood-2 would open up a new prospect for additional pilot testing and contribute to the certification of gas reserves in this permit.

Lastly, QGC, in partnership with Lucas Coal Seam Gas, will re-enter, clean out and complete an existing well, Woleebee Creek-2, in ATP 651P, which is about 90km northwest of the Berwyndale South gas field.
