Azure-2 is the second well to be drilled by Blue in ATP 817P and will be followed by Azure-6 to complete its current drilling program.
The first well, Azure-1, was designed as a stratigraphic test well and intersected 4.9m of gas-bearing Bandanna Formation coal during drilling.
Drilling in the permit targets the potentially thick and continuous Permian Bandanna coals on the Springsure Shelf that produce coal seam methane in the nearby Fairview and Spring Gully fields operated by Santos and Origin Energy respectively.
