Gobe sidetrack encounters big oil column

Less than a week after beginning sidetrack operations at the Southeast Gobe-1 well in PNG, one of the participants in the well, Cue Energy, said the well had intersected an 80 metre gross oil column in the objective Iagifu reservoir sand.

Cue told the market a seven inch production liner was run and the well completed, with oil production expected to begin around mid-June.

Cue said that SEG-1 ST-1 was drilled as a deviated well to penetrate the Iagifu reservoir about 300m to the northeast and about 50m downdip of the current SEG-1 intersection.
