IN the latest set of developments involving petroglyphs engraved into the surfaces of ancient rockfaces by Indigenous Australians on the Burrup Peninsula, the Conservation Council of Western Australia (CCWA) has called for a moratorium on developments until meaningful protections are in place.

Demands meaningful protections to be put in place

The petroglyphs (similar to hieroglyphs but produced by etching,) have been known to be under threat by acidic emissions from industry in northern coastal regions for a number of years.
