Lloyd's wins Enfield classification contract

Lloyd's Register Australia has been awarded the certification and verification contract for the W...

The field, off the coast of Western Australia, is assessed as having reserves of about 145 million barrels. Development of the field will be based around a 100,000 bopd FPSO. The hull for the FPSO will be constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea and the turret / mooring system by SBM of Switzerland. First oil is scheduled for the last quarter in 2006.

Lloyd's business development manager Geoff O'Connor said it was a substantial contract for their Fremantle office and will involve the input from several other design appraisal overseas offices during the course of the project.

"The success of the tender resulted from close co-operation and long hours spent in refining our proposal between London, Aberdeen, Korea and Australia. The tender was highly regarded by Woodside both for technical completeness and the experience and calibre of personnel proposed to work on the project."

"We now look forward to delivering a service that meets the client's high expectations," said O'Connor.
