Thai Shell in conjunction with PTT Exploration and Production plc have been granted access to onshore Block L 22/43 and Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Ltd has the rights to explore the Gulf of Thailand Block G 4/43.

China's state-owned crude oil producer CNPC Ltd was successful in winning the rights to explore onshore for Block L 21/43 and Pacific Tiger Energy (Thailand) with Australian partner, Carnarvon Petroleum, will be exploring onshore Blocks L 44/43 and L 33/43.

In a government statement, SVS Energy Resources Ltd is investigating Block L 71/43 while NuCoastal Corp won offshore exploration rights for Block G 5/43 in the Gulf of Thailand.

The fresh rounds of winning bids comes as several global oil operators, such as Unocal Corp and ChevronTexaco, are currently involved in exploration and production in the natural gas and oil rich Gulf of Thailand.
