Yarri wildcat a duster: Tap

THE Yarri-1 exploration well in Barrow Sub-basin permit WA-25-L will be plugged and abandoned after reaching a total depth of 2885m without encountering any hydrocarbons, joint venture partner Tap Oil said yesterday.

Yarri wildcat a duster: Tap

The well was designed to test the Basal Mardie Geensand and Upper Barrow Group Sandstones, with secondary targets in the Intra and Lower Barrow Group Sandstones within an interpreted four-way dip closure to the southeast and east of the Woollybutt North and Woollybutt South oil fields.

Tap said the JV will now incorporate the results of the Yarri-1 and Woollybutt-5A wells into a forward plan for the production license. The JV will focus on the best way to develop and produce the oil discovered in Woollybutt-3A, 4 and 5A wells.

WA-25-L JV partners are Eni Australia (65%), Mobil Australia Resource (20%), and Tap Oil (15%).
