Sundance’s debut US well nears primary targets

SUNDANCE Energys OL Hill A23-12 well in Oklahoma is drilling ahead at 1512 metres, closing in on ...

The six primary target zones are yet to be reached, Sundance managing director Jayme McCoy said.

The Caney and Woodford shales are the primary targets at A23-12, and Sundance said it expected they will be intersected at 1600m and 1692m respectively.

The well’s remaining undrilled section was highly prospective given the surrounding acreage has either produced, offset produced, or had oil and gas shows from geologic formations, McCoy said.

Sundance’s play strategy was focused on gas sands and non-conventional reservoirs which were similar to the tight, fractured gas-saturated shales in the successful Barnett shale play in Texas, according to McCoy.

Interests: Deka Exploration (operator) 5.8%, Sundance Energy 55%, Mack Energy 20%, T.H. McElvain Oil & Gas Limited 7.8%, and other US interests 11.4%.
