The joint venture, named Eos, will carry out work on the Angel gas and condensate platform, following the decision by North West Shelf venture partners to proceed with the $A1.6 billion project – the third major offshore NWS production platform.

Eos recently completed a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the platform, which will be located in 80m of water, about 49km east of the NWS venture’s North Rankin production facility.

The facility will produce hydrocarbons through a processing unit, with a capacity of up to 800 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 50,000 barrels of condensate per day.

The Angel platform topsides will weigh about 7000 tonnes and the jacket substructure will weigh about 7500 tonnes. The jacket will be secured to the seabed by eight piled foundations weighing more than 3000 tonnes each.

The facilities are expected to be installed and fully operational by the third quarter of 2008.

WorleyParsons chief executive John Grill said the company was delighted to be involved in the project.

“This award further grows WorleyParsons’ portfolio of large EPCM contracts and builds on the continuing strong relationship between WorleyParsons and the venture, which includes current work on the LNG phase five development,” Grill said.
