The development's components are: a sub-sea gathering system; sub-sea pipelines from the Gorgon gas field and Jansz gas field to Barrow Island; gas processing facility on Barrow Island; carbon dioxide removal and injection process; liquid hydrocarbon shipping facilities to transport the product to international markets; and sub-sea pipeline for transport to the Western Australian mainland.
The ProjectConnect supplier registration system is administered through the Industry Capability Network of Western Australia (ICNWA) and advertises contract and procurement opportunities at the full and part package level.
The Greater Gorgon Development is being driven by an unincorporated joint venture of international energy companies Chevron Corporation, Shell and ExxonMobil. Chevron has a 50% interest and is the operator of the development on behalf of the joint venture.
ProjectConnect also provides a mechanism for engineering companies acting on behalf of project proponents to access those companies that have expressed interest in specific packages and can demonstrate capability and capacity for pre-qualification or tender.
ICNWA says it will play an integral role in the identification of capable Australian companies for the supply of equipment and services to the Greater Gorgon Development as the project progresses into the front-end engineering and design stage.
All potential contractors and suppliers are advised to update or register their company profile with ICNWA and review the ProjectConnect website for upcoming opportunities.
During July, the Gorgon joint venture held several industry briefings to establish early engagement and communications with industry and the downstream-focused Kellogg joint venture. The briefings concluded with a presentation in Karratha that discussed access for regional businesses.
Further briefings for suppliers will be held in Karratha, Perth and Sydney during the final quarter of 2005 to provide information on the project schedule and opportunities.
Karratha and Onslow residents are also being sought to participate in two reference groups to advise on issues related to the development.
