Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa told a visiting Western Australian delegation led by premier Geoff Gallop that she made this proposal because Western Australia had mineral rich resources, such as LNG, and a “well-developed” mining industry.

In a press release, Jayalalithaa also suggested Western Australia could also provide expertise in tapping underground lignite to produce gas for electricity generation and industrial use.
