Four major international exporters of LNG met with US utility and industry executives yesterday to discuss future supply, Reuters reported yesterday.

Abraham organised the event that was attended by executives from about 30 US companies and government officials from LNG exporting nations, Nigeria, Algeria, Qatar and Egypt.

Abraham said the US needed about 15 more LNG import terminals must be built.

But US LNG projects face resistance from local lobby groups determined not to have terminals built in their areas.

With LNG imports growing, by 2010 LNG could meet about 10% of US gas needs according to government estimates, with it currently only accounting for about 2%.
