APPEA Conference 2022 kicks off with Day 1

APPEA Conference 2022 - Positive Energy for a Changing World - is taking place over this week at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

In his invitation to conference goers, APPEA chair and Senex Energy chief executive Ian Davies noted that it was a "pivotal time for Australia's oil and gas industry" and that the sector had come through challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and was now in a period of renewed confidence.

"It's a great year to be holding Australia's best conference in Queensland, the birthplace of Australia's natural gas industry, and where a vibrant domestic industry provides competitively priced natural gas to attract new job and wealth creating opportunities," Davies said.

Embracing the theme Positive Energy for a Changing World, the four-day conference will bring together oil and gas professionals, industry and political leaders, analysts, policymakers and of course media from all around the globe.

Energy News is attending in-person for day-to-day coverage through to Thursday.

Principal partners for the APPEA Conference 2022 are Woodside Petroleum and ExxonMobil.

Davies thanked the partners for their tremendous support.

"The commitment from all our exhibitors and sponsors is both appreciated and essential to the success of our conference," he said.

The conference kicks off on Monday with the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia ‘Deal Day' seminary which showcases acreage and farm-in opportunities in Australia and neighbouring regions in a presented papers format.

Following that, the official welcome reception and Country Fare will showcase local produce and entertainment. It will be the first networking session of the conference.
