The agreement was signed between Oman’s Commerce and Industry Minister (and chairman of Oman Oil Co) Maqbool bin Ali Sultan and the UAE Deputy PM (as well as Minister for Foreign Affairs and chairman of UAE Energy Dolphin Co) Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This signing ceremony is an extension to an earlier contract signed by Oman Oil and UAE Dolphin last year, which will see the former transport around 135 million cubic feet of gas per day to the UAE. The 45 km long pipeline, which is supervised by Oman Oil, extends from Mahdha to Al Ain.
The Omani minister was pleased with the agreement as he feels that it shows the strong ties between the two nations. According to Maqbool, “The signing of the agreement reflected the strength of bilateral relations to further achieve joint interests [and will] provide both [our] countries with more potential for economic integration.”
