The general director of Iran’s National Oil Tankers Co, Muhammad Suri, admitted the growth would put pressure on his company’s resources and that it was on the lookout for new tankers to ship LNG from Iran.

According to Mohammad, “Exporting LNG by ship is more cost-effective than using pipelines so the company will source new oil tankers for LNG shipments [and], in order to export LNG, Iran will require 24 to 32 LNG shipping vessels.”

Iran has apparently already entered into negotiations with countries and companies in order to source out fabricators willing to build and export the vessels.
