Police investigation sparks review of Egyptian gas deal

The Group is a partner in the East Mediterranean Gas Co (EMGC) which is in the process of finalising a long-term contract to supply gas to IEC. Maiman is in the dock for admitting to hiring a private investigator to look into the affairs of former Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Joseph Paritzky.

Paritzky is opposed to an Egypt-Israeli deal, preferring a BG Group supply deal from off the coast of the Gaza Strip.

According to Platts, citing an “informed industry source”, the review will happen but the deal with EMGC will also go through.

“[Although] several issues remain unresolved, the IEC management said that it was going forward with the deal as planned despite the police investigation,” said the insider.
