Not wanting to abandon Australia completely the company has retained the ATP728 Queensland permit which contains three possible prospects, although around 50km of additional seismic is required before a commitment to drilling is given.

In Kenya Global now has 20% equity in four petroleum exploration licences in offshore Kenya together with Woodside (40%), which is the operator, and Dana Petroleum (E&P) (40%). The Joint Venture recorded 5,613km of new seismic information over Blocks L5, L7, L10 and L11 in October 2003.

Together with the Falkland Islands Company (FIC), Global has formed a new company, Falkland Oil & Gas Limited (FOGL), and entered a joint venture (FOGL 77.5%) with Hardman Resources (22.5%) with a plan to acquire seismic across the disputed islands in August.

In possibly its greatest coup Global snuck under some international majors to seal a 20% interest in the Chamchamal Area of Iraqi Kurdistan with joint venture partner FIRA International (80%).

Although operations are yet to develop in the troubled state the JV will visit Iraq in late July to follow-up with Iraq and Kurdistan Government Ministers and officials to discuss a way forward that suits the requirements of all parties involved in this project.
