Arc chairman retires

PETER Jones, who chaired Arc Energy since it evolved out of Austin Oil in 1997, has announced his...

“Peter’s distinguished record in government, agriculture and commerce made him uniquely suited to the task of chairing ARC during this period of growth,” the company said in a statement.

“Peter intends to now concentrate on his personal business interests, including his responsibilities as chairman of the Commonwealth Defence Housing Authority. On behalf of the board we thank him for his service to the company and to shareholders and wish him well in the future.”

Arc said Mike Harding, currently an independent non-executive director, will assume the chair for an interim period pending the appointment of the new chairman.

Arc also announced the appointment of Emma Stein to the board as an independent, non-executive director. It said Stein is a highly experienced non-executive director and has had an outstanding professional career in the energy industry.

Stein is a non-executive director of DUET (Diversified Energy and Utility Trusts), Integral Energy, and a member of the University of Western Sydney Strategy and Resources Committee.

She was formerly an executive UK board director for Gaz de France, a UK non-executive director for Cofathec Heatsave Ltd and UK Divisional Managing Director for British Fuels.
