NVIDIA said its Quadro Plex 1000 visual computing system was recently used by integrated software and services company Landmark to help develop a new high-end solution for seismic volume visualisation.
Landmark said the Optimising Seismic Volume Visualisation technology would play a significant role and fill a much-needed gap in helping geoscientists interpret and visualise regional and large data sets.
Landmark manager of geological and geophysical technologies solutions, Nicholas Purday, said the solution allows entire regional data sets to be investigated and visualised in “vivid detail”, highlighting large-scale trends.
Purday said these trends can be “easily missed” if viewing identical data in smaller-sized subsets or on single or dual monitor set-ups.
But using the computing system, he said, allows better decisions to be made, “resulting in increased production and profitability.”
“NVIDIA Quadro Plex addresses a real need for geoscientists, as it allows standard workstations and servers to drive high-performance, large-scale visualization configurations, enabling geoscientists to interpret their data at its highest resolution, without losing sight of the regional context,” Purday said.
